Legend Recognizes Legend

Lazerbeak

Legend Recognize Legend

Doomtree

You may have never heard of Lazerbeak.  But I do know that anyone with any interest in underground hip-hop has heard of the collective Doomtree. Lazerbeak is Doomtree’s critically appraised and fan-favorite beat-mixer, aka the guy behind such rapper favorites as P.O.S. and Sims.  Legend Recognize Legend will be Lazerbeak’s first full-length solo album, and, as suspected, it kicks some ass while clearly showing Lazerbeak can hold his own against the rest of Doomtree’s stellar artist lineup.  Content-wise though, this album marks a departure from the typical Doomtree Records release.  From the album’s first song it’s clear this is a new sound, and more importantly that it is certainly not hip-hop.  Obviously Lazerbeak has interests outside of his collective’s, showcasing a sound more reminiscent of popular electro-pop indie acts such as The Postal Service or Owl City.  Pick this one up.
